Jia Wang recently joined the Civil Rights Project at UCLA. Prior to that, she was the vice president of research at a non-for profit educational consulting firm and was a senior researcher at the Center for Study of Evaluation at UCLA. Her research interests emphasize applied educational measurement including designing and managing research studies to evaluate the effectiveness of multi-site intervention programs; investigating how school, teacher, and student factors affect student achievement, and developing, validating, and evaluating assessment systems. Recently Dr. Wang directed research design and data analysis for a statewide evaluation of the California Mathematics and Science Partnerships. She has published regularly in professional journals and authored various technical reports and book chapters. She is a member of the editorial board for Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, Educational Assessment, and Social Science and Medicine. Dr. Wang also teaches graduate-level research and statistics courses at UCLA, including Survey Research, Experimental Design, and Linear Statistical Models. She received her PhD at UCLA’s Graduate School of Education and Information Studies with a specialization in Social Research Methodology.
